Rest of June

Good morning precious boy!  Today is the day we head out for San Diego and it was a day to remember!

We set out from my parent's house to LAX to pick up Dave from his Malaysian business trip.  His flight landed at 10:45, but he did not come out from customs until 11:30ish.  The boys did well, we just kept circling.  After Dave was aboard our van we set off for the Reagan's house!  Dave and Seth have been friends for years and look at these two now with all their boys!!!!  We had a great visit and then we headed out at 1:40 for San Diego.  The wedding started at 5:30 and when I googled directions that week it said we should be there in 2 or 2.5 hours.  I figured we'd get to our hotel, let Dave shower, get the boys dressed and head out for the wedding, which was 20 minutes from our hotel.  Plenty of time, right???

Well, we got on the road and hit AWEFUL traffic.   So bad in fact that when we were 20 minutes away from the wedding site and had 40 minutes until the wedding started we stopped off at a Target so Dave could shave.  We all changed in the car, which was not planned and all the boys clothes weren't completely accessible.  We we're the crazy family in the parking lot unloading our suitcases and shoving stuff around just to get what we needed and head out.  We get back in the van, ready to go and leave the parking lot when Ben announces he needs to go potty.  We then pull into a parking lot that is empty and let Ben pee in the bushes (hooray for boys!).  We got back on the road got to the wedding site with 10 minutes to 5:30.  We paid the money for valet (we didn't have time to find a spot and walk), found a spot to sit with about 4 minutes to spare.  WAY TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT!  The worst part is poor Dave is super tired from traveling and his sleeping/waking schedule is all turned around, plus he hadn't showered in over 24 hours.  He was a champ, the boys were good at the wedding.

Sidney and Charlie playing with their slinkies.  The bride was on top of it!  She had goodie bags with toys and snacks for the kids and had kids meals brought out early for them too.  AWESOME!
Kayden, Sidney, and Charlie - these cousins had fun playing together.

PICTURE WITH MASON BOYS!!!

We went to church services the next morning and went out eat with some friends of ours.  I used to stay with Melanie when I would come up to visit Dave when we were dating.  Our kids are all really close in age it was so fun catching up!

After worship service and lunch, we went back to the hotel and packed up for the beach.  It was a beautiful day and it was so good to be by the water.

Charlie LOVES the water, Ben...not so much.  Ben wanted Charlie to hold his hand :)

I stayed with True under the sportbrella.  Love this sweet boy!

Our little euro baby :)  Chubba-wubba!

It started getting a little chilly and his swim trunks/diaper were digging into his chunky legs.

This pretty much sums up Ben's beach experience.  He did not like his feet getting dirty and he was so tired with no nap.  Eventually he figured out he could get the big bucket, fill it up with water, and put it right next to his towel.  So he put one foot in the bucket to rinse off the sand, then he stepped on the towel with that clean foot, then he cleaned the other foot.  It worked pretty well...man my kid is smart!

 Happy Boy!

See the green bucket by the towel, that was the rinsing bucket.  He was just done.  Eventually I just said, "Ben lay down, rest your head"  He was making me crazy.  He did this for a few minutes, then I tried giving him a snack because he gets crabby when he's hungry....it did not work, he was just tired.
Meanwhile, Dave and Charlie were having a blast!

 Again!

 Love those dimples peeking through!

It was still a really fun time!

 Eating his snack!

After the beach we went to this amazing Mexican food place called Robertos it was a hole in the wall, but I had one of the best enchiladas ever there.

We checked out Monday morning.  Dave had a couple of monkeys helping him out.

The car was packed and we headed to the USS Midway.  It was really neat.  The boys loved getting in all the planes and being on a big ship.

Ben looks a little nervous :)

If there was a button, they pushed it :)

 Fun was had by all.

 Listening to Daddy's audio tour

Ben wanted a picture by the yellow plane.  I have no idea what he's doing in the above picture :)

Looking all the way down to the engine room

Looking outside.  They needed a snack and True needed to eat too.  It was a beautiful day in San Diego.

This was set up to show us what the men aboard would eat.  It was all very interesting.

 More planes!

 Ben, again, looks nervous

After the USS Midway we hit the road to spend a couple of days at my parent's house again.

One last visit with Poppy.  He and Charlie were doing a puzzle.

 Waking up from naps!

We made it home the boys were awesome on the long drive.  It's good to be home, but we miss gams, pops, and the great grandparents.

3.5 Months Old and Super Cute!  True is sporting the "Chicks Dig My Ride" shirt.

Charlie at 8 weeks with the same onesie

Ben at 7 weeks...I know, I know I'm more than a month off for comparison with True, but at least I remembered :)
True does seem to favor Ben more, though don't you think?

Look at these two boys!  Aunt Kate took this gem and sent it to me :) My cup runneth over!
