11 Months and Charlie's New Summer Hair Cut

Well, Charlie's hair was getting way to long! So last Saturday Dave and I gave it a good cut. He will be getting his 1 year pictures in a month so it should be the perfect length by then.

I think he looks even more like my dad :)

The Great Outdoors

Well, we've decided to redo our backyard. It really was a jungle out there. The weeds were hip high and it definitely was no sanctuary or secret retreat.

The new blocks for the raised flower bed - it used to be old wood.

Blurry picture, but it gives you the idea. The new raised bed is curvy instead of straight now.

When Dave was doing the new fence he took down the old fence that was leaning on the cement sound wall - much cleaner looking. What I'd like to do is get some viney plants growing and I also thought it would be cool to get some old framed mirrors and hanging pots to put on the wall.

I was moving some small river rocks last weekend when I came across this snake - yard work can be so dangerous :) It was about 1/2 inch in diameter and 6-7 inches long. Dave took it outside because our neighbors grandson was over. It ended up he gave it to our neighbor who wanted it for his backyard - apparently snakes are good for getting rid of spiders and bugs. That's fine and all, but keep the snakes on your side of the fence. I don't think I will ever be able to let Charlie play alone outside now - yikes!

10 Months Cont'd. - Singin', Swimin', and Bubbles

I'm sorry we haven't posted in a while it has been a very busy month! Let's see what's new with Charlie...he's offiicially pulling himself up. I went in to his room this month one time and he was standing up in his bed. He's still not crawling. He's kind of in reverse. He's been getting himself wedged in between furniture and toys. I did take him in for his shots this month and he did weigh in at a solid 23 pounds-we're officially in 12 month sized clothes. I'm not worried about not crawling - he has a lot to move around :)

The other funny thing Charlie has been doing is singing. Sometimes Dave will take him in the shower with him and he will be singing a song, and before I know it our Charlie boy is singing a little diddy himself.

The other fun thing we've started is swim lessons. The city of Folsom offers a mommy and me swim class. Another gal from church and her little boy were in the class too. Charlie LOVES the water! He did great! We worked on blowing bubbles (I've never seen a kid so tight-lipped :), front float, back float, moving his arms and legs, standing and jumping (with assistance) in the pool from the side, there was a small slide he went down all by himself and I caught him at the bottom. Overall, it was a fun class. Charlie and I both learned a lot and it was fun having something to do Monday through Thursday for two weeks.

Lastly, we've introduced bubbles! Charlie loves to pop bubbles. Whenever he is being a crank I pull out the bubbles and he just squeals in delight :)

10 Months

Over Memorial Day Weekend Dave was in a wedding and we captured some great pictures of us all. Enjoy!

Charlie said, "Mama"! I was wondering if he was really saying it or not, until in the middle of the night a couple of weeks ago he was crying, "Mamamama". Now it was cute this time in the middle of the night and I happily went in and consoled him, but I'm not going to encourage him in the future :)
