Grand Re-Opening of Sutter Street

At the Sutter Grand Re-Opening celebration in Folsom! The railroad people were there with their carts - the kids had a blast!

The Berenstein Bears were there too! Crazy because we just started watching their show - Charlie was not too crazy about how big Papa Bear was but he was proud of himself for giving him a high five. Later on he told me Papa Bear was too scary to give a hug too :)

Wyatt Earp was there and he deputized Charlie. Wyatt was wearing a pair of spurs that were over a hundred years old.

Getting his badge

"Hey Papa, look who it is!!"

Waiting for the Wells Fargo Wagon to come by...if you didn't know this Charlie is really into the movie The Music Man...so he was really excited about it! "Oh teh wells fargo wagon is a comin' down the lane, oh please let it be for me..."

There it is! How cool is this town! I love Folsom!

Ben and I waiting for the wagon

Love this one!

An old Folsom fire truck parked on the side of Sutter Street for anyone to clim up in...Charlie could have stayed here the whole time.

Folsom is seriously the cutest town! I love living here adn can't imagine being anywhere else! I love how I rarely have to leave the city because they have everything I need. I love the history of Folsom and how family centered it is too. They recently redid historic Sutter Street and they had a re-opening ceremony and festivities. I wanted to go because they took a group picture of everyone who showed up to be put in the newspaper...and ulitmately made history-pretty cool!

Charlie's May 2011

Charlie has just been so cute lately! On May 4th Charlie and I were in the sunroom having "preschool" and going over the lowercase letters of the alphabet. When I got to the "r" he said, "that's an 'r' like arrrr matey" and to top it off he said it in his best pirate voice. :) He keeps us smiling :)

These two pictures are of our Charlie boy waiting for daddy to get home from work...precious boy

Easter 2011

We had a wonderful Easter at Ed and Alyce's house this year. Mom cooked beef stroganoff (yumm-o), Kris made her crazy good salad and I was in charge of the carrot cake. The kids had a blast egg hunting in the backyard, playing baseball and making huge bubbles in the front yard :)

carrot cake...it was pretty good...love all that cream cheese frosting :)

BEST PICTURE EVER...A RARE SIGHT INDEED!

Showing momma his eggs

He ate 3 hardboiled eggs...yoke and all...it still makes my mouth dry and chalky just thinking about it. I'm telling you Charlie would not even consider eating eggs (refer back to when I made him green eggs and ham). Now he loves them...thanks grandmops!

Workin' in the Yard

We spent the weekend getting the garden ready for my vegetables and we needed to get rid of a tree in the backyard that was growing all wrong.

#1-move planter box-check (it was under the trampoline)

#2-remove weeds - check

#3 move dirt-ugh

Planter box moved - yay!

All my wonderful plants-zucchini, sweet peas, bush beans, corn, sunflowers, tomato

Charlie leveling out the dirt

workin' hard

He and Dave were cutting down a tree. He saw this little "tree" and tried pulling it out....

...he then realized he could just use his chain saw:)

Looking at their work of chopping down the tree...looks so much better :)

Funny Charlie Story for May

So a couple of days a week I try to sit down with Charlie for 20-30 minutes and have preschool. We go over letters, sounds, numbers, memory verses... So on this particular day we were going through our lowercase letter flashcards and when we got to the "r" Charlie said, "that's r, like arrrr matey" and it was all said in his best pirate voice. He keeps me laughing :)

Playtime

We had a couple of opportunities this last month to have some friends over!

Ring around the rosies...with Joe and Laney

Ben 9 Months

Ben is 9 months and moving all over the place and getting into everything! He weighed in at 21 pounds and was in the 95%-ile for his height - he is really long and lean like his daddy :)

Anytime the camera comes out and crawls right towards it
Sweet little face

Into everything! I moved that tray with magazines shortly after this picture

Love these ones of him playing the piano
