June 2015

Hello Summer!  We did LOTS of playing, and I tried to find ways for the boys to help out around the house more and we did a few things for others too.  Over all, it's been a great start!  I'm loving having no school schedule!

We made and sent Poppy a dozen german chocolate cookies.  Charlie and Ben are decorating the box we mailed them in.

Here the boys are helping me make some homemade salsa.  It came out good and they loved helping!  Charlie is slicing tomatoes and Ben and Truman are rolling the limes to get them ready to squeeze.
I love how Ben and Charlie are looking at each other in this picture.

The boys are working on their school work books.  Yep, I'm that mom.  I have a workbook for each of them to keep their minds going during the summer.

I taught Ben how to play war.  Here are Charlie and Ben playing.  It was a big hit!

The boys had so much energy this day!  I was at my wits end with their craziness.  So, I told them to go get their swim trunks on.  I wetted down (read "made muddy") our side yard and told them to go play in the mud!  They LOVED it.  It gave me 45 minutes of laughing and squealing OUTSIDE.  (Thanks Momma H and Uncle Jack for the idea!)

It was REALLY hot out this day and again they were bored and getting into trouble.  So we made spider webs with painters tape and masking tape.  Then we ripped up newspaper and scratch paper and the boys had to throw the paper into the web and make it stick.  They loved it.  Even True participated.

Their webs were pretty full and were starting to fall down.
 I'd totally do this again!

 My birthday celebration!
I love how True is giving Rachel a kiss on her head.
Why is True on standing on the table???  Look at all those cute kids!

"Sit down son and scoot back"

I have had this cake pinned FOREVER!  Dave offered to buy one or make one and I told him I really wanted to make this cake.  It was really good.  The cake part was really eggy which I love, the strawberries so fresh and delicious.  The frosting was good, but I'm not too crazy about cream cheese frosting-next time I might do cool whip or something light.

My cards from my nieces and nephew:

Ben and Truman are dead-heading the gardenia bush.  They enjoy taking off the brown flowers and chucking them behind the bush.  Hey, it works :)

Charlie and Truman working together to change the load of laundry from the washer to the dryer.  I love the progression of these pictures.  Charlie puts the clothes on the lid of the dryer and True pushes them into the dryer.  I'm really enjoying all the help around the house!  (Side note:  please tell me someone else's dryer is covered in STUFF like mine is?!)

 Favorite one by far!

Father's Day:
Breakfast (cinnamon rolls and milk) in bed.  The boys each got him something from the dollar store.  True decided on a spiderman ball, Charlie a Styrofoam sword, and Ben a package of twizzlers.  We also put together a Father's Day book for him.
He liked it!  The boys were excited about bring him breakfast in bed.

Great pic, right?!!  Look at those handsome boys with their handsome daddy!

This picture kills me.  Charlie and True are in the same position.  Too funny!
This is also evidence of Truman's favorite summer movie being Mr. Peabody and Sherman.  He is seriously obsessed!

I keep finding these fun notes around the house.  I will make a list (this one is of stuff I want to do with Ben to further his schooling) and then Charlie will get a hold of it and add his own little touch.  I LOVE having a son who writes me sweet notes.  It's such a fun surprise!

Hello summer pool!  We got to have Delaney for the day so she joined in on the fun!
I loved how there were two small pools joined by a slide.  It was big enough for all 3 of my kids and I felt it was much better safety-wise than a big pool this year with True.

I woke up to silence and 7:00 and walked into the great room to find them like this!  Love these boys!

We made some snickerdoodles and chocolate chip cookies to deliver to 6 friends.  It was really fun and our friends enjoyed the surprise visit and treat!

June was a great, fun month.  Summer rocks!
